...of course if they do, there is about zero chance they will sell it in the US. :(

I'd like a Leone-style lightweight coupe with AWD, because twodoorbaru. Yes, close in some respects to the BRZ, but I don't care.

That would be great. Since about 2008 they have become cars with a trunk attached to the back seat. No room for anything but a couple bags of groceries. The earlier Legacy had room for a lot of stuff. That is the primary reason we keep ours. It's functional.

Ok...so technically an updated/different version. But still cool.

They never cancelled it in the rest of the world, They only cancelled it in North America, the US first, then Canada, which are supplied out of the SIA factory in Indiana.
I don't believe that the Gunma factory in Japan ever stopped building Legacy wagons, in addition to taller Outback wagons, for other markets. They also build the 3-row Exiga wagon, as well.

Exactly why I am thinking about trading my 2005 Legacy GT sedan for a '10 Tribeca.

Oh, I know.
There have been many decisions that Subaru of America has made that have sucked.
over-all model differentiation and option variability have both fallen since about 2006.
Lots more mainstream cars, but no choices as to what color paint goes with which interior... dwindling body style choices (cancellation of Legacy as a Wagon being a big one, in response, it is becoming more common for modifiers to lower Outbacks), and the under-support of Legacy GT leading to it's removal from the US market after 2012. No sport package for Forester XT to offer a manual gearbox, while other companies are starting to put some performance edge on some of their CUVs...
Subaru building RWD coupes for Toyota, and ignoring the fact that the market for an AWD affordable sport coupe is WIDE OPEN, and completely unserved... as if no sporty coupe enthusiasts live in the snow belt or other inclimate zones ...
WRX concept being a knockout, followed by pre-production shots of WRX showing it to be just a warmed-over Impreza sedan was the last straw. I don't really have much love for new Subarus.
The last possibility might be if XV Crosstrek gets WRX or WRX STI hardware underneath it's raised chassis, after the actual next-gen WRX and WRX STI debut.

I hope they bring it back to the states. I see Outbacks like crazy in Knoxville. The Legacy wagon would probably sell pretty well here, but then maybe not because everyone who wanted them already bought Outbacks.

My wife had a 90 Legacy wagon.....nice car, but the ground clearance sucked for deep snow. I remember pushing snow up over the hood and roof once when we when ran into a snow squall, To it's credit, we didn't get stuck but I always ran Blizzacks on it.

They really should bring back the Impreza coupe preferably as a WRX STi variant.
